"We have been blessed with the ability to support and raise our family, doing what we love!"
The dramatic arts is unique in its ability to cross over into multiple aspects of every day life. Practically Dramatic will provide you with the tools you need professionally, personally, or academically.
Practically Dramatic, LLC was conceived with the knowledge that the skills taught in dramatic arts are skills that have practical applications to our every day lives. Eben and Keara Gordon have nearly 40 years of teaching experience between the two of them, and even more years of experience as professional actors and directors.
Specializing in the implementation of dramatic and performing arts education including public speaking and communication skills, Eben and Keara Gordon will assist your educational institution in the integration of dramatic arts, communications or public speaking and presentation skills into programming based on the needs of your school. They also offer one-on-one coaching for individuals who are interested in strengthening their own public speaking and presentational acting skills.
In providing a drama curriculum for students, it is not expected that they will leave with a passion to become a performer on stage or in the movies, but by participating in drama games and group activities, and performing in front of an audience, students are also practicing conflict resolution, team building, empathy, and are encouraged to present themselves with confidence.
The students Eben and Keara have taught over the years have left their classrooms with new found confidence and connection with classmates, some of whom were very like-minded, while others, who they may have not had the opportunity in the past to connect with, were given a space to understand each other‘s similarities and differences.
Dreaming as a team working together as a team to accomplish a goal as simple as playing an acting game successfully or as big as rehearsing, performing and producing a big theatrical production.
Respecting yourself and each other as an audience member, fellow performer.
Acting with bravery. Stepping outside of your comfort zone in a safe space. Feeling nervous and yet doing what is asked of you is an invaluable skill.
Mindfully listen and speak. In an age of constant distraction, we practice mindfulness through meditation, yoga, and improvisational focus activities.
Allowing space for classmates, we practice personal spatial awareness as well as emotional space for generosity of thoughts and emotion.
